Psalm 22:1 My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. Psalm 24:7-10 7 Lift up your heads, O gates, And be lifted up, O ancient doors, That the King of glory may come in! 8 Who is the King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle. 9 Lift up your heads, O gates, And lift them up, O ancient doors, That the King of glory may come in! 10 Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory. Today, I simply want to point out the different aspects of the life of Jesus Christ that we see in these 3 incredible chapters of the book of Psalms. In Psalm 22 we see the “Suffering Savior” as He is dying as our substitute upon the cross. There, the One who never sinned is being treated as if He had committed every sin, so that I could and would be treated as if I never sinned. In other words, the Father treated Christ as if He had lived my life, so that He could treat me as if I lived Christ’s life. The “Suffering Savior.” In Psalm 23 we see the “Good Shepherd” as He provides and cares for His sheep. In Christ, those who are truly His will never lack for anything we need for life and godliness. 2 Peter 1:3 seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. The “Good Shepherd.” In Psalm 24 we see the “King of Glory” Hebrews 10:12 but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God, So we are reminded that Jesus descended from Heaven to earth to be the “Suffering Savior” in Psalm 22 who meets every need of His children as the “Good Shepherd” in Psalm 23, but in Psalm 24 He has been, is and forever will be the “King of Glory” seated in Heaven who will rule and reign throughout eternity! Wow! What a Savior! What a Shepherd! What a King!
